Overview
Code Ninjas is a coding center where kids learn programming by building games and projects. I began as a summer volunteer in 2024, joined the staff as a Sensei that fall, and was promoted to Lead Sensei in January 2026.
What I do
- Guide students through JavaScript and game-development projects in Microsoft's IMPACT software
- Help students debug their code and understand the concepts behind it
- Give presentations to students on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and safe internet practices
- Design the training curriculum for new Senseis, covering teaching fundamentals and best practices
How it started
As a volunteer in summer 2024, I helped students who were stuck on coding problems during CREATE sessions, and assisted with a summer camp where students learned to edit and publish their own videos.
